Challenge

After three unsucessful tries seeking funding from the legislature for a new building, the college needed several million in private donations to strengthen their request.  President and staff with no fundraising history needed confidence and practice with major gifts and campaign organization.

Solutions

Prepared a case for support, engaged board and volunteers in fundraising, and designed and facilitated a new capital campaign fundraising effort.

Results

Building funded and opening in Fall 2020! MTECH raised $3.4 million in private donations. This evidence of private support significantly strengthened the legislative request, which fully funded the $31 million for the new building.

Kids on the Move

Challenge

In order to take fundraising to the next level, the organization needed to increase board confidence in fundraising, strengthen the case for support, and improve individual major gifts. 

Solutions

Created board job descriptions, case for support, and trained CEO and staff in major gifts cultivation, with examples. 

Results

CEO and staff became confident in approaching major donors, managing grant requests, and creating relationship-building events. 

CrowdCare Foundation

Challenge

A one-person part-time executive director needed to avoid burnout, create a sustainable organization, and strengthen board engagement in fundraising. 

 Solutions

Developed a strong case for support, and added strong board members with clear job descriptions and accountability. Developed clear fundraising responsibilities for board members and staff. Created strategies for ongoing crowdfunding and donor outreach contacts.

Results

Executive Director excited to continue with the organization, confident in fundraising, approaching major gifts and sponsorships, and a supportive, donating board. 

MATC

Challenge

An all-volunteer organization working to complete a $5 million capital campaign needed to recover from previous unhelpful consultants and organize to find leadership gifts. Then, when the COVID-19 crisis devastated their primary corporate aviation prospects, worked to transition to focus on local individuals.

Solution

Increased board confidence in individual major gifts fundraising and created professional-level proposals for global corporations. Consolidated lists of past donors into an organized database and created a campaign plan to engage past donors.

Results

Organization prepared with a collection of custom proposals, campaign plan, case for support, and campaign plan. Also, all donor records combined into a consolidated, simple database and trained fundraising committee focused on individual gifts. 

Alpine District

Challenge

Forty-year-old year-round camp facility badly needed renovations. The district needed to evaluate whether private donations could support two campaigns at once or whether to include the request in a bond request.

Solutions

Working closely with staff and camp participants, created a case for support and full feasibility study to evaluate plans for a $15 million capital campaign.

Interviewed relevant staff, board members, and created an extensive list of major gift prospects. Then interviewed prospective donors and compiled a recommended campaign target. 

Results

The district received a list of porential major gift prospects, honest and direct feedback for improvement, a campaign plan and gifting table. Also included an analysis of existing donor patterns, current donor database, and recommendations for preparing for an effective campaign. 

Developed case for support, created major gifts proposals, organizational budgets, organized fundraising committes, and participated in major gift requests to launch a new initiative for anxiety and depression.

Thanksgiving Point

Using creativity to overcome increases in costs and major donor pledges falling through, worked with staff to raise the last $6 million of a $30 million capital campaign for the Museum of Natural Curiosity. This included new leadership naming opportunities, opening events, donor recognition and hosting.

Designed and executed a $21 million capital campaign for a new Butterfly Biosphere.
